mean people
yep, we all know that. so that’s all i have to say about that.
but what about the opposite. nice people don’t . in fact, when you meet nice/good people make sure you value that relationship. i have a really good exaple about a great person and one who i am really glad to call a friend.

that cat is andrew hyde. last week i was supposed to meet andrew to kick around his business plan/idea (which is really cool btw). unfortunately on the ke ride up from denver to boulder, i hit a patch of ice south of town, slid into an intersection, and tagged a car. i didn’t get hurt too bad but dinged my ke up a t. i showed up to the trident coffee shop way late and andrew had left already.
when i told andrew what happened and that i was about to leave the coffee shop, andrew was just concerned about me! in fact, andrew drove over. on the way, he saw me waiting for the bus, picked me up, and drove me home. we had a great conversation on the ride home, and i am really glad to have such a kick friend. thanks andrew!
[on a side note, if you are thinking about funding andrew’s new business, do it. andrew is guaranteed to be successful - just look at what he’s done with startup weekend.]

mini-blog posts
i never agreed that twitter is what some people call a micro-blogging service. just didn't feel much like blogging to me. but friendfeed is another story. i am using it more like a blogging tool than twitter. for example...1. yesterday i snuck out to see the new batman movie on its opening day. i wrote my first review on ff. in the morning (now) i have more thoughts. if heath ledger hadn't died, and if there were two other g performances like his, it might have been on the same level as the departed, and that's high praise. the other characters and the actors who portrayed them weren't anywhere near as interesting as ledger's joker, who unlike nicholson's or romero's -- wasn't funny, at least not in the normal way. he is a pathetic character, wonderfully pathetic. really something to see. so my first impression last night was pretty lukewarm, but after a few hours it seems more masterful. you could have cut out most of the other scenes and made a movie just about the joker and that would have been great. too bad ledger died. he was becoming a really fine actor.
2. as you may know i bought a cute little windows laptop on impulse the other day. it was a good move. and on ff last night i asked for help networking it with my macs. glad i bought it. gotta keep up on what the other guys are doing. apple has been doing pretty well, the iphone was risky, and they pulled it off, not easy to do. microsoft usually takes three tries to get it right, apple got it right the first time. but in ultra-portable laptops, apple isn't cutting it. this little eee pc thing is a marvel. there are some really crappy things about it, like the uncontrollable trackpad and the keypad is tiny, and squinting at the tiny screen hurts my eyes, but it really is a joy of a product. if only it ran mac os.

tenchu 4 japanese debut trailer out now
to those of you who've been playing long enough to remember, the tenchu series was born in the playstation one era and starred the sneaky duo of rikimaru and ayame. together, they got the gaming world hooked to, err, grappling hooks and stealth kills. later installts, however, were not quite so successful and broke some e fan games.
will this next-generation sequel breathe new life to the series? we'll see. motion-sensing katana controls could be just the spark plug the franchise needs.

podcasting needs to be "personalized video & radio"
today, the reality is we have have almost unlimited choice of audio and video content from millions of sources. everyone is becoming a "caster" of some form, whether it is audio bloggers to major media cable channels to you newspaper. everyone and i mean everyone is starting to create audio and video content these days... just visit youtube.com to see what i mean. this is starting to be a significant change for the larger and minor media companies as well and they are shifting fast to adapt, but many it will be too late. i think smaller broadcast radio stations will be hit first. i think the days of buying an hour of broadcast radio time for a lifestyle type radio show and reaching an audience is about over. even taking that show to the internet now is difficult. we are seeing so much noise online now and all our time to consume media content is getting spread too thin.
to the rescue is personalized media and how that might work is to tell a software agent hooked up to your tv, on a website or your computer that will be an automated filter on content and make recomdations and suggestions (not search) to you on what you will most likely "like" based on your past usage patterns. sure this has some privacy issues, but it maybe the only realistic way we will be able to deal with the flood of media options we have today and in the future. we need our software to be smarter and make choices for us to save us time as i don't have time to sample millions of media choices.
