podcasting needs to be "personalized video & radio"
today, the reality is we have have almost unlimited choice of audio and video content from millions of sources. everyone is becoming a "caster" of some form, whether it is audio bloggers to major media cable channels to you newspaper. everyone and i mean everyone is starting to create audio and video content these days... just visit youtube.com to see what i mean. this is starting to be a significant change for the larger and minor media companies as well and they are shifting fast to adapt, but many it will be too late. i think smaller broadcast radio stations will be hit first. i think the days of buying an hour of broadcast radio time for a lifestyle type radio show and reaching an audience is about over. even taking that show to the internet now is difficult. we are seeing so much noise online now and all our time to consume media content is getting spread too thin.
to the rescue is personalized media and how that might work is to tell a software agent hooked up to your tv, on a website or your computer that will be an automated filter on content and make recomdations and suggestions (not search) to you on what you will most likely "like" based on your past usage patterns. sure this has some privacy issues, but it maybe the only realistic way we will be able to deal with the flood of media options we have today and in the future. we need our software to be smarter and make choices for us to save us time as i don't have time to sample millions of media choices.

more twin talk

double the brange!
it's the case of the dueling magazines, y'all.
for a while now, in touch weekly has been reporting that brad and ange are having twins. they claim it's a boy and a girl.
well, now star magazine is reporting as well that the couple is having twins.
yay!
the two mags agree on that, but….
a family insider tells star that brangelina will be welcoming two .
the snitch says, "brad can't wait ? he absolutely adores little . and angelina just loves seeing him and the other kids so excited and happy."
star is also reporting a dark side to the twin joy story.
angelina reportedly suffered a terrifying collapse that left her tearful, weak and panic stricken, fearing her fall may have harmed her two unborn baes, according to an insider.
the source recounts, "angie got out of bed and was halfway across the room when she ped out and fell. brad heard her hit the floor ? hard ? and he rushed to her side. she came around pretty quickly, and the medical team that has been traveling with her, a doctor and a nurse, got her back into bed and started checking her vitals."
we hope the medical story is not true.
though, santa angelina does push herself too hard.
whether it's a boy and a girl or two , we just wish brad and ange two healthy new additions to their family!

twitter connects to gnip
recall that gnip is a ping syndicator, sort of weblogs.com on steroids. not the simplest of apis, but apparently quite powerful. i tried to get some code running with it, but hit a hard wall that i couldn't get past. no matter, others are successfully adapting to gnip.
i just read this announcet on twitter from eric marcoullier pointing to a techcrunch piece. eric says: "it's official: twitter is pushing to gnip and gnip is pushing it the out to everyone!" but this is kind of contradicted in the tc piece, which says you can only get updates from users you specify. you can't connect up on the same (firehose) basis that summize was connecting before they were acquired by twitter (earlier this week).
like i said: so much movet. (there's more coming.)
one thing's for sure is that being open to developers is very much a compeive issue. this is why two-party systems work in technology and one-party systems stagnate. why, when netscape inated browsers nothing moved, and it was fun while microsoft and netscape were competing, and why we returned to stagnation when netscape folded, and why it's once again interesting now that firefox is flourishing. same thing in the compeion betw twitter and identi.ca.
when i talked with evan prodromou yesterday he said they would open up their xmpp back-end to anyone and everyone without limits. now it's up to them to make good on that, and this shoudl give twitter the incentive to go all the way with gnip. btw, gnip should be agnostic, they should work with identi.ca as well as with twitter.
